They have wonderful support for kids with organizational challenges like executive disfunction. And we recently used them for college advising and it was a wonderful experience. The difference in this company is how well they get to know your child and your child’s needs and then how they strategically address them. They were able to get my kid to complete and turn in his application months in advance. I was not part of that equation (maintaining our good relationship) and my kid never felt “nagged.”  We will be using them for our other child for the college process when he is ready.

College prep has changed dramatically since we all applied when A’s and a good test score were enough to get you in. Test optional, ED1, ED2, EA, whether “test optional” actually means “test optional,” whether to take the ACT or SAT and when to take it. It’s exhausting and a full-time job. Plus you’re dealing with a stressed out teenager who is not apt to listen to your advice anyway. Novella helps you and your child through the whole process. His whole approach is to REDUCE stress so your child feels they prepared early in the process and they left it all on the field, regardless of the outcome. This might be the best money I’ve ever spent — my daughter got into her first choice early decision and we minimized the stress for her and for our relationship going through it all. The benefits Novella Prep provides to students and their families go beyond the obvious. Yes, the classical college list, time-lining and essay prep are all excellent. But just as impressive is how Novella Prep really “gets” their students and helps them crystalize their unique value statement and round out their extracurricular involvements so that the student walks away with sense of authentic accomplishment. — Our family has cherished the calm and wise counsel we got from Tony and each of the Novella team members we worked with.  In fact, we have been astounded over and again how expertly they navigated the most sticky situations, and how they motivated our kids to get past emotional roadblocks. We are about to launch into our third round and feel so at ease knowing where we can turn for the ultimate advice on college prep. My only regret is that we didn’t discover Novella Prep earlier as they also offer learning strategies and executive function coaching - in today’s fast-paced and distractive world a real gift for young learners.

Tony helped me over the summer and into the beginning part of the year with study skills and working continue to develop my executive functioning skills. During my junior year, we spent weeks researching and refining my list of colleges, exploring the different majors that I was initially interested in and much more. Then once my senior summer started, Tony had me start working on essays, both the personal statement and individual supplemental essays. By starting so early, I was able to minimize a lot of the stress associated with the college process. Thanks to Tony I was accepted to my first choice school, and I can confidently say I would not have been able to do it without him. I am a freshman college parent this year and as November is rolling by, I can not help but reflect back at where my family was last year at this time, full of essays and deadlines and last minute application details.  Although 12 months have passed, I very much can still feel all of the emotions that went with my daughter’s college application process.  I also can not express enough my appreciation and gratitude for Tony and Novella Prep.  From the moment we met, Tony was ,and continued to be, that calming, knowledgeable and reassuring voice that consistently made us feel at ease.  He and his team were extremely competent and professional, guiding us through the entire process, from SAT prep to making our final decision.  Ultimately, our daughter has found her “college home” and is extremely happy with her decision, which truthfully is what we had hoped for at the beginning of the entire process.
